چکیده

This paper studies the emergence of cooperation in the NPlayer Prisoner’s Dilemma (NPD) using a tag-mediated interaction model. Tags have been widely used to bias agent pairwise interactions which facilitates the emergence of cooperation. This paper shows some of the key parameters that influence the emergence of cooperation in an evolutionary setting. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the most vital factors that are commonly ignored in many existing NPD studies.

The Evolution of Agent Strategies and Sociability in a Commons Dilemma

This paper explores the evolution of strategies in a n-player dilemma game. These n-player dilemmas provide a formal representation of many real world social dilemmas. Those social dilemmas include littering, voting and sharing common resources such as sharing computer processing time. This paper explores the evolution of altruism using an nplayer dilemma. Our results show the importance of soc...

Emergence of Cooperation in N-player games on small world networks

The emergence of cooperation in social dilemmas has been addressed in a number of fields. In this paper, we illustrate how robust cooperation can emerge among a population of agents participating in a N-player dilemma when the agents are spatially arranged on a graph exhibiting small world properties. We present a graph structure with a high level of community structure, small diameter and a va...

Three is a crowd in iterated prisoner's dilemmas: experimental evidence on reciprocal behavior

Reciprocity or conditional cooperation is one of the most prominent mechanisms proposed to explain the emergence of cooperation in social dilemmas. Recent experimental findings on networked games suggest that conditional cooperation may also depend on the previous action of the player. We here report on experiments on iterated, multi-player Prisoner's dilemma, on groups of 2 to 5 people. We con...

Group size effect on cooperation in social dilemmas

Social dilemmas are central to human society. Depletion of natural resources, climate protection, security of energy supply, and workplace collaborations are all issues that give rise to social dilemmas. Since cooperative behaviour in a social dilemma is individually costly, Nash equilibrium predicts that humans should not cooperate. Yet experimental studies show that people do cooperate even i...

Cooperation and control in multiplayer social dilemmas.

Direct reciprocity and conditional cooperation are important mechanisms to prevent free riding in social dilemmas. However, in large groups, these mechanisms may become ineffective because they require single individuals to have a substantial influence on their peers. However, the recent discovery of zero-determinant strategies in the iterated prisoner's dilemma suggests that we may have undere...
